Alexandra Soliman

Dr. Soliman received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from McGill University in 2008, following an Honours Bachelor of Sciences undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto.  She completed her internship at the Royal Victoria Hospital, McGill University 2005-2008, in the OCD, mood disorders and early psychosis divisions, and a 4-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Mood and Anxiety Division.  Her research uses functional brain imaging and focuses on the effects of stress and personality on illness-risk and symptoms.  In 2010, Dr. Soliman was awarded a NARSAD Young Investigator Award for two years, to support brain imaging studies on the neurochemical effects of acute stress in health and recovered depression.  She is currently involved in clinical research focused on treatment of stress-related disorders at the Frederick W. Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre; and cannabis addictions at Translational Addiction Research Laboratory at CAMH.  Her recent research concerning stress and neuroimaging is published in several scientific journals.
